Shah Rukh Khan has zoomed past Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to become the second most followed Indian personality on Twitter with over 16 million followers.
The PM currently stands in the third position with 15.8 million followers.
While Shah Rukh was earlier in the third position, he saw a rise in the number of followers in the last few days. The actor has been a lot in the news over the past week following his comment that there is "extreme intolerance" in India.
Moments after SRK reached the second spot, his fans initiated #SRK16Million to celebrate his popularity.
The Dilwale actor joined the microblogging site on January 3, 2010 and has been one of the most active B-town stars since then. Amitabh Bachchan, however, continues to lead the pack with 17.6 million followers.
